The Functions of Humic Acid in Animal Husbandry
In addition to its use in industry and
agriculture, humic acid and sodium humate are used as veterinary drugs and feed
additives in some parts of the world, or aquaculture with very good results.
Sodium humate, of which we are supplied, is a macromolecular sodium salt of
various functions and is made by neutralization reactions, drying, and other
processes from high-quality leonardite and sodium hydroxide. Its humic acid
content and activity are very high. We can also supply dried humic acid powder
for the production of sodium humate. Humic acid itself has a large molecular
weight, colloidal properties, and adsorption capacity, and can form a good ion
exchange and catalysis, to promote the activation and absorption of feed
components. Here are some of the mechanisms of action of sodium humate and
humic acid in animal husbandry for your reference.
Humic acid makes all kinds of complex molecular nutrients in the feed fully decompose and carry out good organic combinations, increase gastrointestinal function, and promote protein assimilation.
Humic acid improves the permeability of animal cell membranes and protoplasm, increases the water content of muscle cell spaces and cells, and causes the phenomenon of smooth skin of pig body hair.
The adsorption effect of humic acid makes the feed nutrients pass through the intestine slowly, enhances the absorption and digestion time, and increases the rate of nutrient absorption.
Humic acid molecules are rich in nitrogen elements and have a strong adsorption effect on amino group, it makes full use of non-protein ammoniates in the feed, and the feed protein is transformed into muscle protein at a higher limit, exerts the growth potential of lean meat, improve the proportion of lean meat, and the humic acid molecules remaining in the intestine can also absorb ammonia in feces, which reduces the odor of feces. The absorption of ammonia increases fertilizer efficiency.
Humic acid contains quinone groups involved in the body's REDOX process, which makes metabolism vigorous, promotes cell proliferation, and accelerates growth.
Sodium humate improves gastrointestinal function, promotes gastric secretion, increases appetite, promotes nutrients to enter the body faster, stimulates the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract, and inhibits the propagation of spoilage bacteria.
Because sodium humate promotes digestion and absorption, it can make better adsorption and utilization of mineral elements in feed compatibility and gives full play to the role of mineral elements and multiple vitamins.
